June 5th Sunday. My journal has had a long visit. The night of the 22nd of April, I was taken with scarlet fever & was very sick. Six weeks have now passed and I am only able to walk round the house & to ride out.
I have been over to Uncle Frank’s & up to Mr. Trowbridge’s.
For all this time, we have had a girl only one week and Mother is miserable. It seems as though I must go to work but my strength fails me.
I so hope we can get one soon for Mother looks so bad & sick. Poor Mother.
