Description
Interview conducted by Roger F. Lane for the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society. Justice Lindemer recalls being appointed to the court after the death of Thomas M. Kavanagh and his experiences after not being re-elected. He describes the court during the investigation of Justice Swainson; and differences of opinions among the Justices. He discusses the tax law case of People v. Cooper concerning double jeopardy; the Justices relationships after the 1974 elections; the judicial selection process; sentencing guidelines; the role of the court; and state judicial appointments. Justice Lindemer describes his disagreement with Justice Williams on the issue of judicial activism and the Honey West workers compensation case.
