Description
The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. June 27. My chosen favorite month of time is passing and my flowers are parching. It was too warm to go to church today and so I am going to try and study some while Mother and Sophy are downstairs reading. June 28. Sophy and I went down to the village to night. June 29. Gus and I want to go to Pontiac to night. Emily Fish and Frank(?) Opdyke(?) visited here this afternoon. A pleasant time. June 30. Good dinner at Macks(?). The girls seemed much offended because we did not stay longer but they would be mad anyway.
