The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. July 23. Yea, old journal, one word with you and then good night. I have done lots of work, read three sections in Cicero, one chapter in Physiology, corrected a paper and the latter just this evening. I have got seven sections more to read, then I shall have finished the oratio pro Marcello ___, which must be done this week. Then I must do what I can on the next this month, for the first of next I must commence Virgil and with that
