Description
The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. September 28. At home and very busy. Emily left to day. September 29. Went up to stay with Gus. Over our _______ for the last time we talked for a long time till most one. Boys went to day. September 30. Bid Gus a long goodbye and came home to find that I could go to Owosso to see about a school. Arrived there in a rain storm and after a series of trials and tribulations found Mr. Huttons. A Union was about being started and the prospects poor but I found a few who preferred sending to a select.
