Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. foaming billows madly on the shore. No news from home yet. I know nothing as yet about a school. Some people are slower than time. October 21. Have been writing to Verona and reading all day. To church this eve. October 22. Thought I should certainly get letters today but the boat did not come in last night. October 23. Got a letter from home and one from V.E.P. but none from Gus. Why she does not write I can not see. She must be sick certainly she would have written even if she were well
