At church this evening and prayer meeting after. There has been no preaching here today. January 3. At school the same as usual. January 4, 5, 6, 7. The same as usual. One young lady, Miss Francis, called on me. Have written a letter to Emil Tripp in _________. Received letters from Gus, Mrs. Jenks, home, Hannah Baldwin and Amy. Went to Lyceum and was much astounded to hear my name read essayist.
