Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. I came the nearest to getting on a train that I ever have since I have been here. January 29. Thought I should certainly hear from home today but I was disappointed. Grandma’s ________ and miserable. Made me anxious. I have been out _____ and _______. This ______ a __________. God protect the loved ones at home. January 30. At church this morning and at Sabbath School. __________________________ day ____________. The friendship is __________ in my way of thinking and I do not blame them for smiling.
