Description
Charles Tormie, a brakeman on an ore train on the DSS&A was fatally injured last Saturday morning on the Mackinaw division by falling under the cars. He was standing with one foot on the engine and the other on the first car of the train and as he drew the coupling pin the engine gave a jump ahead, letting him down onto the track under the wheels. One leg was run over at the hip and he recieived other severe injuries. He was brought to the city on the noon express and taken to the Northwestern Hospital where everything possible was done to save his life but he sank in a short time, dying about 2 o'clock. His home was in Hamilton, Ont., where he had a wife and three children. His remains were shipped to Hamilton Sunday for burial.
