Description
Fifteen years ago Clarksburg, a little village ten miles west of Ishpeming on the DSS&A had nearly as many people as this city, and bore the reputation of being just as tough as any town of its inches in Michigan. At that time the place had a sawmill, planing mill, choarcoal furnace, and other industries, employing a large number of men. Later on the furnace and the mills were cosed, and for the past ten years clarskburg has been a quiet hamlet of perhaps 200 people. The work of building the extension of the C&NW from Ishemping to Michigame has brought a great many hard characters to the country.
