Description
An accident occurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway near Ishpeming on the 17th day of December 1887 at 930 o'clock A.M. caused by: Richard Nugent, breakeman with switch engine in Ishpeming yard losing a portion of middle finger on right hand. He was pulling pin between engine and ore car no 992, when engine slacked back; his finger caught betwen pin and dead wood taking off a portion. He was off work 3 weeks, but is again on duty.
