Description
Hunter Savidge came to Spring Lake in 1856 to manufacture lumber as an associate of Young and Montague, owners of the Hopkins Sawmill. In 1861, he partnered with Dwight Cutler of Grand Haven, and the firm of Cutler & Savidge Lumber Co. began to thrive. He was the proprietor of the Spring Lake House, and in 1871 was named Director of the First National Bank of Grand Haven.
