Description
In 1838, Henry Pennoyer was elected Ottawa County's first Sheriff. From 1838 to 1856, Pennoyer managed the Washington House, and from 1843 to 1860, he was the proprietor of the Ottawa House Hotel. Pennoyer was Treasurer for the City of Grand Haven and served in the State House in 1849. Ten years later, he served in the State Senate.
