Description
The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.

June 17th A week ago to day father took me to Pontiac. Since I have been there I have improved very fast. To day we (Jane & I) went up to the Union school. When we came back found nothing waiting for me. Abba came with us. 18 To day I have been fussing round and am very tired. Abba and Mother went up to Janes this afternoon. I wrote to Gus about coming to Ypsi that I would come if I could. Father and Mother want me to go. They always try to make me happy and I but poorly, poorly repay them.
