Description The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.13th A most unendurable hot day. Frank and I went down to the village to night. It seems strange to see so many strangers there to one who has always been so well acquainted. We called on Emily a few minutes. I do want to visit her.
Came home by moonlight and took a bath in the creek.
14th Have not been very well to day. We have had such a beautiful shower that everything and body feels refreshed. Mother & I have been sewing and have had a very pleasant afternoon.
Am studying to night.
