Description
The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.

5th To day Lizzie and I went to Pontiac. Started about eleven got there at noon. All are flourishing at Uncle Pierces. (?) & her young son among the rest. We called at Mrs. Goodsels and at Miss Burns. Started for home at three, while in the village met Clara. Had a delightful ride home. Nothing to mar the pleasure save that the saddles hurt the horses backs so that we can not ride right away again. 6th Had to go down to the village this afternoon to pick hops. Took tea at Mr. Barnums.
