Description The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. 23rd Busy. Molly (?) called to day. We spoke of getting up a reading class. Think ‘twould be pleasant.
24th Thanksgiving. Who that looked up on the gorgeous sun light as it slowly starts from the gorgeous portals of the eastern horizon and sent its glad song over hill and vail [sic] could find place for ought but praise and thanksgiving in their heart to that glorious giver of all blessings.
This morning we attended service at the Methodist church and feasted at a
