Description
The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.

Jan 13th And now what shall I say for myself. I recited and have studied all day. Jan 14th To day I was bled. Was some scared. Jan 15th Went to church this morning. Lockwood has made his arrangement to be here over Sunday. He accordingly honored the Presbyterian church with his company. Frank was down. We saw her off and then he walked home with me. I have been writing to Paysley & writing my essay. Mary Ann came in. It was ridiculous that they were not introduced that evening. Called for Molly.
