Description The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.The sermon was all (?) and very noisy and in my humble opinion (?) to little religion in the (?). I had the honor of Mr. Baldwin’s company home. Quite an honor when I consider him the most disagreeable fellow I ever knew.
16th Recited. Mother came for me to go to Lyceum. Her essay was good mine miserable. The debate was very good. Mary and I are in deep trouble to know whether or no. Timothy soiled his coat cleaning lamps to get into the show.
