The following is a transcription of Martha Baldwin's diary, 1859-1860. Question marks inclosed in parentheses represent words in the original diary that were illegible. Elipses are used to indicate larger portions of the text found to be illegible.

He was very pleasant and the fun of it is he thinks Mary and I are jealous of each other on his account. To night Mary and I went down to the school house to a spiritualist meeting. Called on the Methodist as I came home. Mother did not like it to think that I went there. 21st A beautiful day. Recited. Helped some about the house and studied some. Went to the store with Mollie who called then went up home with her to get a book. Hannah, Mary & Eleanor called. Went in to see Mary Ann a few moments.
