as she talked and helped about it she did not enjoy it one bit because her father is so sick. (?) escorted us home with his usual gallantry. Feb 7th This morning Frank and I went a (?) with Nellie. Mr. L---- came over and stayed about an hour. This afternoon we called on Mr. Hill & visited he district school. […] George came for Frank at night. 8th A beautiful day. Father much better. The (?) is some better have not seen Molly to day. Company for variety. Did not go to grammar school but wrote to Gus instead.
