Description
Interview conducted by Roger F. Lane for the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society. Justice Edwards recalls his childhood and education; his early employment and involvement in the labor movement; and his work in juvenile court. Justice Edwards also discusses workers compensation cases; especially the cases of Scholle v. Hare, Baker v. Carr, and West v. Northern Tree. He then discusses judicial selection, partisanship, Jimmy Hoffa, and the People’s Savings Bank. Justice Edwards also discusses his colleagues on the Michigan Supreme Court including Justices Talbot Smith, Leland Carr, John Voelker, and Harry Kelly; and the abuse of paper ballots.
