Interview conducted by Roger F. Lane for the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society. Justice Swainson recalls his education; his experience working for all three branches of government; his election to the supreme court; the cases People of the State of Michigan v. Jondreau; and the case of Joe Smeekens. He discusses the composition of the court and Justice Gene Black; how Roe v. Wade affected Michigan; the case People v.
