8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1948 Packard three-quarter rear view. Inscribed on photo back: 1948 Packard eight deluxe, twenty-second series, model 2211, 8-cylinder, 130-horsepower, 120-inch wheelbase, 6-person club sedan (body type #2262), prototype, note special Golden Anniversary hood ornament offered on twenty-third series Packard models, 1946 Michigan license plate #EL55-18, Packard archives indicate facelift for Clipper was originally planned for twenty-first series, by 1942 the heavier front end and hidden headlights had appeared on a front end only facelift, this evolved to a more streamlined look with unhidden headlamps by 1944, in 1945 artists retouched a photo of a production 1942 Clipper, using the proposed new lines, around the same time the more elaborate custom eight grille work was emerging, finally came the production prototypes, with completely altered fuselage and flow through fenders.
