Description
7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard left side view, driving up steep hill, male behind wheel. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: "Hung" on a 38-degree hill, without application of foot or hand breaks, is this new Golden Anniversary Packard custom equipped with ultramatic drive, the industry's newest "no shift" drive, power transmitted to the rear wheels through the torque converter holds the car motionless, then by merely pushing the accelerator, the car climbs easily over the tip, this unique measure assures the driver responsive control in traveling over hilly terrain, negotiating railroad up grade crossing and similar traffic conditions.
