June 26. Today Mother and I have finished reading Scott’s poems. That that I most fancy is “Lord of the Isles†because there is in that more of the Scott’s and fervent devotion to his country.
The comedy _____________ too is excellent and “Marmionâ€, where Douglas when he is upbraided for his treatment to Marmion answers.
The hand of Douglas is his own and never shall so friendly grasp the hand of such as Marmion clasp.
