DescriptionThe following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. July 21. At home till just at night. Went over to Uncle Franks. Have just been writing to Elija Whitney.
I don’t study one half as much as I ought to. When I get through work I am so tired I can’t and at night I always have a letter or something that must be tended to, and then it is so warm.
July 22. Mother and I went down to Mr. Beldings(?) tonight and had a pleasant call. Em is very pleasant. Mrs. B is getting better.
