Description
The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. September 2. Miss Hill called this morning to invite me to a party she is to give for Miss Clark. Gus, Ellen and Mary Henry(?) spent this afternoon here. I took Ellen down to Birmingham then went home with Gus and staid all night. September 3. I expected to visit a small company only at Mr. Hills but there was about 40 there. We had a pleasant time very. September 4. Mother and Father have been away. He is better but looks very frail and poor.
