Description
B/W negative of former Kalamazoo Mayor Glenn Allen 1951-1959 (right) standing with an unidentified gentleman (left, wearing airline visor cap) in front of the early Kalamazoo Airport located at 5235 Portage Road in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The land the airport is situated on was originally part of the Township of Portage, Michigan but was annexed to the City of Kalamazoo. The signs mounted on the building in the background read: Kalamazoo Airport Office 872' Pilot Register and North Central Airlines-route of the northliners. As of 2005 the airport remains at this location but has been extensively updated.
