Description
The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. October 5. Went down to village on horseback to take a letter for Gus and one for George Baldwin telling him I would come there. Had a pleasant ride but was out rather late. Suppose the last one of the season. Saw Verona and Ritta(?). October 6. At home and busy. October 7. A cold blustery cheerless day. I’m very busy. To night have been thinking how widely scattered are the band that met only two weeks ago. The boys at Ann Arbor, Clara and Gus at Ypsilanti. Emily in Baltimore.
