Description
The following is taken from a transcription of Martha Baldwin’s diary (1858-1859). Illegible sections of the original text are noted as follows: ______. A parenthetical question mark (?) follows words in the original text that were not completely legible but were still transcribed. October 14. Our ride today was through a low country not very pleasant. We got to St. Clair about four having driven 31 miles. The county fair is being held at that place. Mrs. _______ was away so I was almost a stranger but they were all very pleasant. In the evening we went up to Mrs. Miles, Sarah Father and I. If I do not teach at Lexington I shall come back and make a visit here.
