Page is hand numbered ""78"". -- 1914 - Kearsarge Indoor Baseball team defeated the Y.M.C.A. team. -- Sparrow bounty season produced 1,100 sparrows presented for bounty to Township Clerk, George Martin. -- Painesdale Carol Club sings at the Douglass house in Houghton. -- Isle Royale Mill destroyed by fire. -- Calumet hockey team captain, Paul Hogan, announces Calumet team lineup: Savinni, Treglown, Hogan, Stroud, Monroe, St. George, Skinner. -- Isle Royale mill fire clean up. Men being laid off may find work on the county bridge repair project. -- Basketball game between the Old Stars of the Y.M.C.A and the Ann Arbor team. -- Announcement of a new modern plant to be built at the Isle Royale mill site. Construction will provide employment for 100 men. -- Calumet High School orchestra, led by Albert Eddy, presents a concert at the school. -- 1915 - Dick Pollard wins the billiard match on the Swetish tables in Laurium against James McCormick and Oscar Luma. -- Silver shipment sent to the United States mint. The silver is refined at teh electrolytic plant at Hubbell, and shipped from the Calumet & Hecla smelting plant. -- Earthquake near Avezzano, Italy. --- J. F. Dupont of the Laurium Garage recieved a new 1915 Maxwell car that he will exhibit at the automobile show at the Colosseum. -- Boxing match held at the Laurium town hall between Young Whittika and Al Peterson ends in a draw. Match was refereeed by Ole Olson. -- Low weather record of 31 degrees below zero reached. -- Laurium fire department's 24-year-old horse, ""Old Billy"", retires and earns a pension. -- Dog race to be held in Calumet and managed by ""Popcorn"" Dan Cusick, and judged by David Armit, William Fisher, and C. O. Jackola. -- Copper mining by the Trimountain Mining Company continues work supervised by Richard Bowden. -- Red Jacket's annual dog derby (race), managed by Dan Cusick, will be filmed by the Hearst-Selig film company. -- Calumet & Hecla public baths reopen after remodeling. -- Wedding announcement of Clarise Olds to Albert Williams, both of Ahmeek. -- Automobile breaks through the ice on Portage Lake. The driver escaped apparently unhurt. -- Mohawk won the Junior hockey championship against Portage Lake. -- John Johnstone, former physical directory of the Calumet Y.M.C.A, continues his service in the British Navy. -- The ""Cousin Jacks"" volleyball team wins several games at the Y.M.C.A. -- Upper Peninsula Auto Show to be held in the Colosseum. -- Jess Willard defeats Jack Johnson in the heavyweight championship in Havana, Cuba. -- Harry E. King, manager of the Colosseum, announces that the MacNaughton Cup will be displayed publicly at the Colosseum.
